June in San Miguel de Allende

Temperatures

Temperatures In June remain high in the mid-nineties until the washing thunderstorms of the rainy season arrive, usually by mid-month.  While many imagine that San Miguel is hot through the summer months, it is not.  Temperatures fall to the mid-eighties and sweaters can come out at night with the evening rains.  Also, at one-mile-high, it is not usual to have humid conditions.  The countryside begins to green-up, cactus flowers bloom (especially the nopales) in the Charco del Ingenio Botanical Garden.

What to Watch For

Tourist begin to fill the town at mid-month as school vacations begin across Mexico and North America.  The art and Spanish schools draw university age North Americans.  Mexican families explore San Miguel’s shops and historic sites. Gallery openings, lectures and play-readings begin again after the break in May.  Restaurants offer live music and the mariachis are busy at night in the Jardin.

Special Dates

June 7 – Corpus Cristi is celebrated with dancing at the Parroquia nd in Juarez Park.

June 13 – Festival de San Antonio de Padua – All participating groups are preparing their costumes for Desfile de los Locos closely tied to the San Antonio community and church.
