August in San Miguel de Allende

Temperatures

Low-eighties and down into the sixties overnight.   Overnight thunderstorms are common during August.  But clear, non-humid days are the general rule.  The countryside is emerald green and gardens are in lush form during this growing season.

What to Watch For

Like July, August does not have a grand fiesta associated with it.  But it is still a lively time in town with tourists arriving to enjoy San Miguel’s temperature climate from across Mexico and southern United States where hot temperatures prevail. The Jardin, (town square) becomes a party at night with mariachis playing, and the Estudiantiana singers leading crowds in Spanish folk songs. Restaurants offer live music for listening and dancing into in the early morning hours. Classically trained musicians play in restaurants and public places the first three weeks of August as part of the annual International Chamber Music Festival , now in its 34th year.

Special Dates:

August 3 & 4 – Opening weekend of the 34th International Chamber Music Festival with the award-winning Pacific Quartet, at the Angela Peralta Theater – home of The Festival.  The Festival’s Advanced International Music Student Program presents university-age student ensembles around the town in free recitals throughout The Festival.
August 16, 17, 18 – Final weekend of the Chamber Music Festival, featuring an ensemble of eight musicians, the Atlantic Chamber Players.
